Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Department organised Bihar Khel Samman Samaroh (Bihar Sports Awards function) in Patna on August 29, 2011 to celebrate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand. The day is celebrated throughout India as Sports Day (Khel Divas). Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the function while Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Dr Sukhda Pandey presided over the function. The Chief Minister felicitated several sports persons for their distinguished contribution to Indian and Bihar sports. Sqd Leader Nirupama Pandey, who scaled Mt Everest, rower Rajesh Choudhary and shooter Chandrashekhar Kumar Choudhary were among about 150 sports persons, who were feted in the function.Photo: Aftab Alam Siddiqui
